March 1, 2012: NY Times: Is Bipartisanship Back? Don’t Count On It.

You don’t actually have to read this one. Just read these two paragraphs.

What part of “85%” don’t our elected officials understand?

In a New York Times/CBS News poll taken in January of this year, 85 percent of those surveyed said they would rather have Democrats and Republicans compromise some of their positions to get something done. Just 11 percent said they should stick to their positions even if it means getting less done.

And those numbers are not a fluke. How many people said they wanted compromise in September of last year? Eighty-five percent. What about a month earlier, in August of last year? The same — 85 percent.
